Independent music technology R&D · 2026 programme

Research shaping the future of live music.

We are building and testing the technologies that could shape the next generation of live and recorded music experiences. Our working hypothesis is that AI, smartphones, wearables, cloud systems and XR could reduce production cost and complexity. That hypothesis is not proven; this programme is designed to test it.

Research grounded in music culture and practical production.

We investigate how emerging technologies might support artists, venues, audiences and creative teams. Every project is framed as active research, a prototype, a plan or a direction so possibility is never presented as proof.

01 / Portfolio

A connected research portfolio

Seven workstreams span rights, production, interfaces and immersive venues. Each is labelled by its actual maturity—not its ambition.

Active R&D Prototype Planned Research direction

The research asks how structured rights data could travel with music and media without adding friction for creators. No commercial rights platform is claimed.

Android is the active test environment. iOS remains a research pathway rather than a tested or released capability.

Interaction and production concepts are being prototyped. Hardware validation is still pending.

02 / Method

Evidence before assertion

A repeatable path from question to commercial decision. Not every experiment should progress; learning what does not work is part of the method.

Define the creative and technical question.

03 / Architecture

A system of testable links

Select a node to inspect its role. Solid connections represent integrations observed in a proof of concept; dashed connections are future research paths.

04 / Publications

Research records

A planned publication series designed to make methods, boundaries and findings legible. The research overview is available to download as a PDF.

05 / Products

Research connected to practice

Existing ClubMixed products provide practical contexts for experiments without turning prototypes into product claims.

06 / Applied evidence

Smart Nano case study

A focused connectivity proof of concept: one Android device, one active user, dual-camera live video and delivery into GO CLUBBING VR. It did not establish multi-user performance.

07 / Creator economy

Questions, not revenue forecasts

The programme examines conditions that might create value for creators and venues. It does not assume adoption, income or market impact.

01

Rights clarity

Could structured attribution reduce uncertainty as performances move between physical and virtual contexts?

02

Lower production barriers

Could mobile and wearable workflows enable useful live production with fewer specialist resources?

03

Venue participation

Could connected immersive venues create additional ways for artists, audiences and operators to participate?

08 / Partner programme

Collaborative research for organisations with a real question to test.

We are interested in well-scoped work with music, XR/VR, live-events, telecoms, venue, academic and creative-industry teams. This is a research invitation—not a sponsorship package.

Bring a challenge, environment, capability or evaluation perspective. We will establish the question, boundaries and evidence expectations before proposing work.

09 / Programme roadmap

A staged path through 2026

The sequence is deliberate; it is not a promise that every concept will become a product.

  1. Stage 01

    Foundation

Document hypotheses, prototype boundaries and evidence standards.

  2. Stage 02

    Focused experiments

Run small tests across active R&D workstreams during 2026.

  3. Stage 03

    Independent review

Invite relevant technical, creative and industry perspectives.

  4. Stage 04

    Selective progression

Publish appropriate findings and advance only supported opportunities.
